David E. Smyth

David E. Smyth is a Senior Partner of Family Financial Partners, Inc. – a financial services firm and managing partner of Family Financial Holdings, LLC. – a real estate investment partnership. Through these affiliated companies, David and his management team provide financial solutions and investment services to clients located in seventeen states.

David holds a bachelor’s in Media Communications from Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky. He began his career in financial services in 1998 with Capital Advisors Group. Later, he joined Interactive Planning Corp., and then joined IPC Financial as a partner in 2003. In 2005, he founded Family Financial Partners.

David, a Seattle, Washington native, and his wife, Stephanie, a Fairhope, Alabama native, spend most of their free time with their sons, Gates, Ridley and Michael. As Stephanie was one of four daughters in the Gates family, Stephanie and David decided to honor her family lineage by naming their firstborn Gates. Ridley was named to reflect David’s maternal grandparents and his Crary kinfolk. After choosing two strong names for their first two sons, David and Stephanie knew they needed to do the same for their third. Thus, they named him Michael, after Stephanie’s uncle. As a family, they all enjoy traveling and can often be found at the beach in St. Augustine, Florida.

David is actively involved in supporting many local charities through the Family Financial Foundation, which he and fellow Senior Partner Alex Roig founded in 2010. The Foundation supports organizations that help Kentucky families, including LexCare, Lexington Dream Factory and Christian Appalachian Project. He also volunteers for the Lexington Medical Society’s annual charitable golf outing, among other community outreach initiatives.

David, Stephanie, Gates, Ridley and Michael reside in Lexington, Kentucky. As a family of avid music lovers, they have a cat fondly named Techno. If the boys can convince dad to get a dog, their mother has picked out the name — Blues.
